Where SERP features appear

In-browser panel

When you're viewing Google search results in the browser, the SERP Features & Results sidebar panel automatically detects features on the page using SERP Lens's own DOM analysis. This panel only appears when you're on a Google results page. Selecting the buttons attached to the features allows you to see exactly where the features are showing, alongside the number of features (such as there being 8 standard organic results on the page) or unique visible listings within a feature (there might be 3 visible links within an AI overview). The ordering of the SERP features within the panel are in the sequence they appear on the page.

Rank tracking

The rank tracker detects all 30 features listed above. This data is available in:

  • Rank tracking — see which features appear for each keyword over time
  • SERP Compare — compare feature presence across two result snapshots

Why SERP features matter

SERP features can:

  • Push organic results down — AI Overview and featured snippets take space above organic results
  • Steal clicks — Users may get answers directly from People Also Ask or Knowledge Panel without clicking through
  • Create opportunities — Appearing in video results, images, or featured snippets can drive significant traffic
  • Signal intent — The features Google shows indicate how it interprets the query (informational, commercial, navigational)
